What we do

Deposit Recovery Spain is a document-preparation and process-guidance service. We help English-speaking expats in Spain prepare a formal demand for the return of their rental deposit, usually sent as a burofax via Correos, and we guide them through what comes next.

We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or regulated legal services. Every demand is reviewed by a Spanish abogado before it is sent, but that review does not create a solicitor-client relationship between you and us or the abogado.

How the process works

1. You fill in the case form and upload any evidence. 2. We review your case and decide whether a burofax is likely to help. 3. If we think it is worth pursuing, we send you a payment link for our flat fee. 4. After payment, we draft the burofax, the abogado reviews it, and we send it to the landlord or agency you name. 5. We send you the certified proof of delivery and a next-steps plan.

Pricing

Our flat fee is currently €129 per case. This covers drafting, review by a Spanish abogado, sending one burofax via Correos, and sending you the certified proof of delivery. If we review your case and decide a burofax is not the right move, you do not pay.

The fee does not include any later court fees, additional burofaxes, translation services or third-party costs unless we agree those separately.

No guarantee of outcome

We cannot guarantee that you will recover your deposit or that the landlord will respond. A burofax is a strong, formal step, but every case depends on the facts, the landlord, and the law. We will always tell you honestly what we think your chances are before you pay.

What we need from you

You agree to give us accurate and complete information, and to upload any evidence you have that is genuine. If a landlord or agency changes address, you will tell us as soon as you can. You also agree that you are authorised to bring this claim for the deposit you are asking us to recover.

Refund policy

If you pay before we review your case and we then decide a burofax is not suitable, we will refund the fee. If you pay after we have approved the case and we have already started drafting the burofax, no refund is due because the work is in progress.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to our service is limited to the amount you paid us for that case. We are not liable for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, or for decisions made by the landlord, courts, or other third parties.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Madrid, Spain.
